My name is Gyula Berkes, I am the owner of the Biarritz Restaurant and Cafe.
Biarritz Cafehouse opened its doors in 1938 in the mansion located next to the House of Parliament. Almost six decades later I opened my restaurant. This year is the 15th anniversary of its establishment. I consider reviving Hungarian culinary tradition my mission.
The latest issue of Budapest Business Journal features an interview with Her Excellency Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, Ambassador of the United States of America. I am greatly honoured to read that the Ambassador mentions our restaurant when asked about her favourite dining places. I hope she will become our regular guest.
Hungary's impact on Europe's history and development has been far greater than its present size and population would suggest. Hungarians, who call themselves Magyars, speak a language and form a culture unlike any other in the region - a distinction that has been both a source of pride and an obstacle for more than 1100 years.The '90s were not a stellar time for the reborn republic. Its economic development was in limbo and serious economic problems affected all aspects of daily life. Thankfully, those days are past and many now view Hungary, with its intelligent, hard-working populace, and rich and vibrant culture, as the star performer and most interesting destination of the new Europe

The very popular Formula1race will bi held in Hungary the upcoming weekend. As the BBJ Business Online Magazin says:
The weakness of the Hungarian forint makes the upcoming Formula 1 race held in Mogyoród more expensive too, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported. The government had to top F1’s HUF 4.2 billion state subsidy with another HUF 1.3 billion to pay the $ 22 million license fee. Hungarian F1 company Hungaroring Zrt says that the state investment is fully recovered through the extra tax income generated by the race but the survey on which the assumption lies has been questioned by experts, the paper added.

Túró Rudi is followed bc Coca-Cola, Danone, Huhngarian commercial television channels RTL klub and TV2, and retailer Tesco.
